There is only one way to really, securely erase your old hard drive. A typical home computer hard drive can contain your credit card numbers, bank account numbers, and website logins and passwords. This information can remain even if "erased" or reformatted. So my plan is to clone the drive to the SSD and use that as my boot device instead. I've looked up advice about this, and the advice seems to be to remove the old hard drive for a few days until your happy the clone was successful, however the drive is nob removable, so I'm not sure what the best action would be. They should have access to some information in the drives (operating temperature etc) including number of running hours. The problem is I don't want my old hard drives to go to waste! But they're "only" 2 TB each (and I've even got a 1 TB on laying around).
